As some of you may have noticed, its beeeeeeeeen a while since I last posted a nail look on the blog; my apologies. Since I left New York, I've either not been *feeling* the color I was wearing (lame), or: I'd give myself a lovely manicure - then participate in manual labor right afterwards (the worst)...! BUT - today I am bringing to you one of my all time fave nail colors, Deborah Lippmann's Through the Fire ($18).

L-R: Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in
As promised: the second installment of the office appropriate lip. If you haven't yet, I suggest having a read of part one here, then return to this post to round up my top picks for a fun, sophisticated, yet appropriate, office-going-lip. Today's picks are bolder and more matte in finish, as compared to yesterday's selection. These colors can seem scary, particularly when swatched, but if you're wary, begin with a stain and see how it goes. As you'll see in my photographs, the colors aren't as intense as you'd think they'd be. Now, enough chatter - onto the lippies!

L-R: Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Rhubarb; Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 05 candy shimmer; YSL Rouge Volupte in Beige Ultimate (3); Dior Serum De Rouge in 910; Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 86 Scenario
Today's post is one for my office-going-gals: the work appropriate lip. This is a tricky one. I've had a few conversations with friends who share (in varying degree) my
obsession interest in all things beauty, and what comes up about 80% of the time is how to still rock a gorgeous modern look (and actually use your products!), but do so within the dress-code bounds of a formal or conservative office. I've noticed that professional women are constantly told that you should want to be making a statement with your work and not your look, and I get that. But I don't believe it means we should shun aspects of ourselves in order to do so. So to that end, I am sharing my go-to lip colors that I rock on the regular to the office. As you will have seen in the title, this is part one - I have ten (current) all-time favorite lip colors, and to make it digestible, I've split the post up, so tune in tomorrow to catch part two (featuring more bold and matte finishes).

The Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Nude Dip ($79.00) was a lovely birthday present from me to me *insert cheeky smile*. But more seriously, and as I'm sure you can tell from the photograph: this quad is beyond gorgeous. It is made up of four shades; a golden champagne (1), a warm rose gold (2), a medium soft taupe (3), and a warm dark brown. I think all the shades would suit most, if not all, skin tones, and while there is shimmer in all the eyeshadows, in my opinion it is sophisticated. Basically, it's "shimmer done right".

As many of you will remember, Elle did an excellent post on her skincare routine (see it here), and its been my intention to follow that up with my own - but each time I think I'm ready to write it up, I introduce a new product into my routine and then I feel like its 'not quite time yet'...! However, this 'obstacle' is not getting in the way of today's skincare 'tidbit', which comes to you because it is soo awesome that it has to feature in its own post. Solo. So with that being said, I present to you EVE LOM's Morning Time Cleanser ($60.00).

As many of you may know, I was previously living in Manhattan, but I have since made a big move and for the coming months I will be based in Botswana and South Africa! A commonality between Elle and I is the fact that we have lived in a variety of countries over the years and this has definitely shaped the people we are today. I suspect that our locations will also naturally shape the character and content of our future posts, which we hope you will continue to enjoy!

We are twisting the board concept a bit today to feature not only a color, but a combination of shades. Grey offers such a fantastic diversity of nuances to work with. I cannot wait for colder temperatures to start experimenting with different fabrics and textures. Until I can go head-to-toe, I will definitely give a try to the monochromatic manicure using the graphic nail tutorial Es shared with us last month. Have fun mixing and matching the shades!
